Parks and Ovals

The residents of Lockhart River love open spaces and enjoying a wide range of recreational activities including a variety of sports. The multi-purpose sports oval is perfect for rugby league, soccer, AFL, cricket or any of the other sports played in the community.

For many years, the Lockhart River Aboriginal Shire Council has investigated possible funding options for an indoor multi-purpose sport and recreation centre to enable our residents, particularly young people, to participate in sporting and recreational activities all year around. Such a facility would be a great boost to our community, particularly during the wet season which can restrict outdoor activities for prolonged periods.
