Lockhart River Library Services

Indigenous Knowledge Centres (IKCs) are library and resource hubs owned and operated by Indigenous Shire Councils, with support provided by State Library of Queensland. The Lockhart River IKC was the very first IKC to open in Queensland 23 April 2002.

A bright, colourful and inviting space, the library offers the perfect environment to read, learn about local history, use computers or just relax.

We invite you to visit the Lockhart River IKC for a range of activities and resources including:

  • Borrowing books and DVDs
  • Local history resources
  • Programming activities
  • Free computer and internet access
  • First 5 Forever early years literacy resources

If you’re not already a member of the Lockhart River IKC, stop by, say g’day and sign up for a free membership! The IKC is conveniently located in town across form the shop.
 

Operating hours

(Note hours may vary based on community needs or unforeseen circumstances)

Monday to Thursday –   9am to 12pm and 1pm to 4.30pm
Friday –   9am to 12 noon

Note
Library management does not allow the following:

  • Any form of pornography, idle sitting, foods, drinks, chatting and noise
  • Any activities that make regular scheduled users feel uncomfortable

The Library Coordinator has the right to ask a user to leave the library at any time.

If you need to use the library exclusively as a group for an activity that is not on the regular schedule, please book in person or by telephone.
